    Jasmin Bungay sustained the Philippines’ placement streak in The Miss Globe pageant when she finished second runner-up in the competition held in Tirana, Albania, on Oct. 15 (Oct. 16 in Manila).

    The Binibining Pilipinas Charities Inc. (BPCI) took to social media right away to greet the Kapampangan lass. “Congratulations on bringing home The Miss Globe 2024 2nd runner-up crown, Jasmin Bungay! You have continually inspired us with your hard work and dedication throughout your The Miss Globe journey. Your BPCI family and the Philippines will always be proud of you! [Philippine flag emoji]” the national organization said.

    Bungay’s placement is also the second consecutive third-place finish for the Philippines. Last year’s delegate, Anna Valencia Lakrini, was also second runner-up.

    Colombia’s Diana Moreno bested 42 other aspirants to be crowned The Miss Globe 2024, inheriting the title from Manvin Khera, the first winner from Malaysia.

    Thailand’s Prada Thansita Dilhokanansakul settled for the first runner-up spot, while Germany’s Andromeda Schuster was third runner-up. Vietnam’s Ha Trang Do rounded up the winners’ circle as fourth runner-up.

    The Philippines now holds a record 10-year placement streak in The Miss Globe pageant, which started when Ann Loraine Colis brought the crown home in 2015.

    Maureen Montagne remains to be the last Filipino woman to be crowned The Miss Globe. She won the title in 2021. With Bungay’s latest feat, the Philippine now has six runners-up in the global tilt’s current iteration, while two others advanced to the Top 15.

    Bb. Pilipinas Maricar Balagtas won in a previous iteration of the international pageant in 2001, clinching the crown as the first Asian winner in the competition.

    Bungay was not one of the heavy favorites when she competed in the 60th Bb. Pillipinas pageant in July, but she scored a convincing victory with her confidence and eloquence.

    She worked in a logistics firm in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates for five years before flying back home to pursue her dream of becoming a Bb. Pilipinas queen.
