CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines — Smuggled cigarettes worth about P2.2 million were seized in a police operation that resulted in the arrest of a suspect in Calatagan, Batangas on Tuesday.
The suspect, identified as alias Alwin, was arrested after he sold cigarettes to an undercover agent in Barangay Biga.
Charges for violation of the National Internal Revenue Code will be filed against the suspect, police said.
Brig. Gen. Paul Kenneth Lucas, Calabarzon police director, said the arrest of the suspect and the seizure of the contraband showed the importance of the victory against smuggling.
“We will pursue those who undermine our laws and exploit our communities. Our police force will continue to fulfill its
